Ravichandran Ashwin of Team India has showered admiration on Shaheen Afridi, a Pakistani pacer. In the upcoming Asia Cup 2022, he thinks the left-arm fast bowler will be missed by the Men in Green.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin emphasized how important Afridi was to Pakistan’s historic ten-wicket triumph over India at the T20 World Cup the previous year. He had a big impact on the game, getting rid of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Rohit Sharma.

He also confidently asserted that if the speedster had participated in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, he would have gotten a very rich deal.

“The last time we faced Pakistan, Shadab Khan, and Haris Rauf bowled effectively, but it was Shaheen Afridi’s opening burst that broke the game at the top. Afridi’s injury is a huge setback for them ahead of this game.”

“I have often wondered what would have happened if Shaheen Afridi had been there at an IPL auction.

“A tall left-arm seamer who sets the tone with the new ball and also throws yorkers towards the end of games. He may have gone for 14-15 crore if he had been present at the IPL auction.”

Pakistan has always been a team with a lot of raw talent: Ravichandran Ashwin

Despite Shaheen Afridi’s absence, Pakistan still has a strong roster of fast bowlers, as Ravichandran Ashwin pointed out. He emphasized how the majority of bowlers in the nation could generate express pace.

Ravichandran Ashwin claimed that when it comes to their pace attack, Pakistan outperforms all other international cricket sides.

“All Pakistani fast bowlers routinely average 140-145 kph. No other cricket team in the world, in my opinion, has such a strong backup of fast bowlers. Pakistan has always had a lot of untapped ability on exhibit.”

India’s team for the Asia Cup includes Ravichandran Ashwin. It is unclear if he will be able to make the starting XI for the match against Pakistan because the team also has the possibilities of Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal for spin bowling.
