India To Play Asia Cup 2023 Games In UAE, Pakistan To Host Other Matches – Reports

There has been a lot about Asia Cup 2023 where BCCI has refused to travel to Pakistan citing its Indian government’s decision. As per the PCB sources, Pakistan will likely remain the hosts for the Asia Cup 2023 and India are likely to play their matches in UAE with a few other games, including the final if necessary, reported PTI.
Pakistan hasn’t hosted Asia Cup since 2008 when Sri Lanka won. PCB has successfully conducted tours of England & New Zealand where the teams were pretty happy with the hospitality & security. This Asia Cup is considered to be a stepping stone for ODI WC as the tournament is going to take place in September 2023.

PCB Chairman Najam Sethi was asked whether Pakistan will host the tournament.
“What can I say about what happened in the Asian Cricket Council board meeting. There was no resolution.” said Najam Sethi.
A source close to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made a staggering statement on Asia Cup 2023.
“Sethi made it clear at the ACC meeting that PCB wants to host the event and some of the matches at home.” the source said.

Some Hope for Pakistan
Pakistani fans would be delighted to see Asia Cup held in their backyard as the nation currently is going through a crisis at the moment. It is believed that the final would be played in UAE if India book a place in the summit clash. It won’t be wrong to say that the players would be exhausted with the travel.
Sharjah, Abu Dhabi & Dubai have reportedly been finalized as the 3 venues. UAE had hosted the Asia Cup 2018 & the recently concluded 2022 Asia Cup. It would be interesting to see whether Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) & Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are ready for these multiple venues where pitches would be different. It looks unlikely that BCCI would change their stance for Asia Cup 2023.
