IND vs AUS - Ravichandran Ashwin On The Verge Of Surpassing Harbhajan Singh’s Record Tally Of Wickets Against Australia

India will have a lot on their plate as they face Australia in the all-important Border Gavaskar series starting the 9th of February at Nagpur. Team India will be looking to clinch the series as that will put them on the doorstep of the World Test Championship finals.

While India seem ready for the challenge, another man who is poised for a massive milestone in his career seems to be star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. The bowler has been the backbone of the Indian spin department when it comes to red-ball cricket in modern-day cricket.

Ashwin has been exceptional with the ball against the Aussies as he has scalped 89 wickets in his 18 outings that include five 5-wicket hauls and a 10-wicket haul to boot. The bowler is just 7 wickets away from surpassing the record of legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh who is recorded in history as India’s second-highest wicket-taker against Australia with 85 wickets to his name.

Similar to Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja who will be returning to international action after suffering a knee injury back in the Asia Cup last year will be also looking to surpass former skipper Kapil Dev who has 89 wickets against the tally in 20 games.

Both Jadeja and Ashwin have ample games in their hands in the series to surpass the standing record-holders but are likely to face stiff competition when it comes to finding a place in the playing XI with the presence of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav in the spot, who was been brilliant with the ball so far.
