Indian Cricket Team restricted the mighty Aussies to 269. It was a collective effort from the Men in Blue bowlers. Hardik Pandya earlier dismantled the top order by picking up 3 wickets & later Kuldeep Yadav foxed the batters with his variations. Axar Patel was taken to the cleaners where he conceded 57 runs in 8 overs but took 2 scalps. Axar Patel took two important wickets of Marcus Stoinis & Sean Abbott

India had a great start to their run chase as they scored 67 runs in the powerplay overs for the loss of 1 wicket.  Virat Kohli & KL Rahul’s partnership was looking threatening when they rotated the strikes & most importantly didn’t panic after playing a string of dot balls. KL Rahul took on Adam Zampa in the 28th over & on the 5th delivery of the over, Zampa deceived him in flight where KL Rahul couldn’t clear the long on & was dismissed on 32 runs in 50 balls where he struck 2 fours & 1 six. Virat Kohli & KL Rahul were involved in a 69 runs partnership.

At the end of 28 overs, India’s score was 147-3 where Virat Kohli’s score was 45 runs in 52 balls whereas Axar Patel came to bat ahead of Hardik Pandya. Mitchell Starc was bowling the 29th over & on the 5th delivery of the over, Starc bowled a full toss and Axar guided the ball towards mid-wicket where skipper Steve Smith was there where he did a brilliant piece of fielding and stopped the ball & threw it directly towards the wicket-keeper Alex Carey & ran out Axar Patel who was a bit too late to reach the striker’s end.

Virat Kohli had agreed to the run initially but stopped in the middle whereas Axar Patel didn’t look at the ball where there was a massive miscommunication. Axar Patel was dismissed for 2 runs in 4 balls. At that time, India’s score was 151-4 in 29.5 overs.

 Thriller on Cards

Now Virat Kohli will have to bat more responsibly and it won’t be easy for the next batter to go berserk from the word go. With another 119 runs required in 20.1 overs, Australia would sense that they have a chance where a couple of wickets would put India’s run chase in jeopardy.

The Men in Blue should take the game deep as we have seen that scoring 8-10 runs per over in the last 5 overs is not a big ask in modern cricket if the team has wickets in hands. It won’t be wrong to say that the stage is set for Suryakumar Yadav as a breezy knock of 30-odd runs can change the complexion of the match.
