Sydney Thunder all-rounder Daniel Sams grabbed an absolute stunning flying catch in the knockout match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2021-22 between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Adelaide Strikers won the toss and opted to bat first in the crucial knockout match. Opening the innings wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey and Matthew Short looked decent out in the middle.

In the 4th over of the innings, which was bowled by Chris Green, Sydney Thunder almost got opener Matthew Short out but Daniel Sams dropped an easy catch. Green bowled a fullish delivery on the sixth stump and the batter played a slog sweep but it resulted in a top edge over midwicket and all-rounder Sams misjudged the ball and dropped an easy catch.

However, Daniel Sams atoned for his earlier drop with an exceptional flying catch in the third ball of the 5th over. Sangha bowled a fullish length delivery on middle and leg and Carey played a slog sweep towards midwicket and all-rounder Sams ran back and threw himself sideways and he grabbed a magnificent catch with both hands. Opener Carey got out after scoring 23 runs off 14 balls including 2 fours and 3 sixes.

Meanwhile, Adelaide Strikers posted 184/6 on the board, batting first, with the help of an amazing knock by Ian Cockbain of 65 runs off 38 balls including 6 fours and 3 sixes. On the bowling side of things, Sydney Thunder bowlers Tanveer Sangha and Gurinder Sandhu got 2 wickets each. Also, Jason Sangha and Nathan McAndrew got one wicket each.
