England keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow will look forward eagerly to the Headingley Test after his controversial dismissal made the noise at Lord’s. England lost the Test match by 43 runs and many consider his dismissal as the turning point of the game.
Jonny Bairstow was ruled out stumped by Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey on day 5 at Lord’s after he left his crease after ducking from a bounder bowled by Cameron Green. His manner of dismissal has divided the opinion of cricket experts.

Bairstow is expected to move up the order and bat at No.5 following the injury to Ollie Pope after a reshuffle in the batting order for the match after England announced their playing XI for the third Test. James Anderson misses out from the third Test with Mark Wood replacing him. Moeen Ali replaced Pope in the lineup.
Ahead of the third Test, England skipper Ben Stokes backed his star keeper-bater to fire at Headingley. Stokes also welcomed the move to send Bairstow up the order as he feels that the right-hander likes to get started early into his innings.

“That’s where he performed his miracles last summer. Jonny is someone who wants to get in the game and we feel he offers his best things to the team when he is in the game. He is a superstar and the quicker we can get him into the game the better for him as an individual and the better we are as a team,” said Stokes.
Stokes further said that Jonny is fine after the Lord’s incident and has taken the criticism in the right spirit to make the most of it in the next game.
Best Thing Is To Move On From Lord’s Incident: Ben Stokes
“Jonny is fine. We have seen in the past that after any sort of criticism of himself he has always managed to do something. If he uses what happened last week as some kind of inspiration to get the best out of himself, who knows? I said before training that whatever you need to do as individuals, do it. I don’t think we can galvanise as a group any more than we have. There has been a lot of noise about the incident at Lord’s but the best thing everyone can do is move on,” said Stokes.
Bairstow scored 681 runs in home Test matches in 2022 with four hundreds and five fifties in 2022 at an average of 75.66 and with a strike rate of 96.59.
