Australia's Nathan Lyon Reveals One Of His Big Goals In The Game, Focusses On Winning A Test Series In India

In an interview, Australia’s off-spinner Nathan Lyon stated that being part of an Australian team that can win a test series in India is one of his major goals. Lyon has been a key contributor in Australia’s successful stints across the globe and remains to be one of the best spinners in the longer format going around.

He has to be given a lot of credit for being a spinner in the Australian conditions, and the 33-year-old has played 100 tests already, picking up 299 wickets in the format. It has been 17 years since Australia won a Test series in India under the leadership of Adam Gilchrist, and it will be interesting to see if Lyon could impact in the next series in India.

Nathan Lyon Wishes To Be Part Of A Test Series Win In India

Nathan Lyon mentioned that he would like to play a big role in a test series win for Australia in India and noted that to be one of his big goals. He added that the focus will be on that in the longer term as a team as well.

“One of the big goals is I’d really like to be part of an Australian team that can win a Test series in India. I think I can play a massive role in that as well. That’s definitely one of my big goals.

“I think that’s one of the big goals team-wise. That is a big focus,” Nathan Lyon said in an interview with the Age

Nathan Lyon Views On Australia’s Recent Loss To India At Home

Nathan Lyon reckoned that not capitalizing on the chances and not doing the basics well were two of the key factors in Australia’s loss to India in the previous series. He added that Australia should work on creating a lot more chances by doing the basics right for a long time.

“I don’t think we did the basics well enough for long enough – that’s purely what it comes down to. We didn’t take our chances when we created the chances in the field.

“In Test cricket, I’ve played enough of it to realise if you do the basics for a long period of time and challenge people’s defence. You’ll create chances here and there. That’s one big area we can get better,” he added.

Meanwhile, Australia’s limited-overs side has made it to the finals of the T20 World cup 2021 by defeating Pakistan.
