Delhi Capitals Players List, Squad, Schedule, Match List for IPL 2024

Delhi Capitals (DC) will aim to achieve their dream of becoming champions in IPL 2024. Delhi Capitals is one of the few teams who have been part of the Indian Premier League since the debut edition but have not won any title so far.

IPL 2024 is the 17th edition of Indian Premier League. It will be played from March to May this year. A total of 10 teams will battle with each other for the trophy. Last month in December, the IPL 2024 auction took place where 72 players were sold across 10 teams.

Delhi Capitals executed a miserable show last season. The team played 14 matches during the season. They won 5 matches and lost 9. With 10 points, they finished in the second-last 9th spot in the points table and were far from the playoffs.

However, Delhi Capitals were short of their skipper Rishabh Pant in the last season. Pant could not play in the season as he suffered a car accident and was undergoing recovery. However, the wicketkeeper batter is back to lead the side in IPL 2024.

David Warner led DC in the last edition. The left-handed batsman also gave a wonderful show with the bat in the tournament. He mustered 516 runs across 14 games at an average of 36.86. He shattered 6 half-centuries.

However, other batters failed to grab the limelight for DC. For instance, the next best batter on the list was Axar Patel, who scored 283 runs. Phil Salt, who played 9 games, added 218 runs with the bat including 2 fifties.

Even bowlers could not execute a consistent performance for DC last season. Mitchell Marsh was the top wicket-taker with 12 wickets. Axar Patel was next with 11 scalps. Kuldeep Yadav picked 14 wickets in 14 games. DC also had to shuffle bowlers in many games due to their inconsistent show.

Due to the team’s miserable show, DC dropped many players from their squad ahead of IPL 2024. They released 11 players from their squad. Popular names like Manish Pandey, Mustafizur Rahman, Phil Salt, Rilee Rossouw, Rovman Powell, and Sarfaraz Khan were cut off from the squad.

During the IPL 2024 auction, DC bought 9 players. Their most expensive player was Kumar Kushagra for Rs. 7.20 crore. Jhye Richardson was another costly choice at Rs. 5 crore. DC also offered Rs. 4 crore to Harry Brook. Sumit Kumar, Shai Hope, Tristan Stubbs, Ricky Bhui, Swastic Chhikara, and Rasikh Dhar were the other players whom DC bought during the auction.

Delhi Capitals was a powerful team in the first two seasons when they finished as semi-finalists. They also reached the playoffs in the 2012 season, where they topped the points table after the league stage. However, they failed to reach the final.

Later, DC could not book a berth in the playoffs till the 2019 edition. Their best show was IPL 2020 when they finished as runners-up after losing the final to Mumbai Indians. In the 2021 season too, DC reached playoffs but could not enter the final. In the last two seasons 2022 and 2023, DC has failed to enter a place in playoffs.

The schedule for IPL 2024 has not been announced by BCCI till now. The Indian Cricket Board is expected to announce the Indian Premier League 2024 schedule in February end or March first week.
