Young India batter Prithvi Shaw backed his attacking style of play and said that he would play his natural game in all three formats of the game. Prithvi Shaw highlighted that he can’t bat like veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara, but instead, he bats in his own style.
Prithvi Shaw is currently facing a challenging period in his cricketing career after a promising start. He struggled to perform with the bat in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and was dropped from the national team for the upcoming West Indies tour.

Speaking after West Zone’s Duleep Trophy semifinal against Central Zone, Prithvi Shaw emphasized that he believes in playing his natural attacking game and does not intend to change his style.
“Personally, I feel I don’t have to change my game, but a little smarter than what I am. I can’t bat like Pujara sir bats or Pujara sir can’t bat like me,” said Shaw.
“So, what I am trying to do are those things that have brought me here till, for example, the aggressive batting, I don’t like to change that,” he added.

Very Important For Me To Bring Out My Best – Prithvi Shaw
Prithvi Shaw expressed his determination to perform at his best in every game, saying that every run will help him make a comeback for the national team.
“I think whichever game for me right now is as important as anything. Even if I’m playing Duleep Trophy or my Mumbai game, I feel it’s very important for me to bring out my best,” he further stated.

Force Them To Give The Ball That You Want – Prithvi Shaw
The 23-year-old highlighted the importance of playing with the bowlers’ mindset, saying that he doesn’t want the bowlers to dictate the game.
“It’s not that you can always be perfect but I try to work harder after these kinds of things happen (not getting runs). T20 is a bit more slashing, but a similar mindset. Not the similar way as in T20 with me when I am playing red-ball cricket as well,” he continued.
“What I should try is to play with bowlers, distract them, and force them to give the ball that you want and not the ball that they want to bowl,” he concluded.
Prithvi Shaw was part of the Indian squad for the T20 series against New Zealand at home before the IPL 2023. However, he did not get an opportunity to play in any of the matches. He scored only 106 runs in eight matches for the Delhi Capitals at a strike rate of 124.71 in the last season.
