Former India National Cricket Team opening batsman Aakash Chopra has issued a subtle warning to the Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team while showering rich praise on the Pakistan National Cricket Team left-arm quick Shaheen Afridi.

The young left-arm pacer recently hogged the limelight for his unbelievable first over in the Vitality Blast 2023 match between Nottinghamshire and Birmingham Bears. While playing for Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on June 30, Shaheen Afridi bagged 4 wickets in his very first over.

Shaheen Afridi was handed the first over of the innings by skipper Steven Mullaney and he started with as many as 5 wide balls. However, he quickly got back on track and on the very first legal delivery he cleaned up Alex Davies on a golden duck and on the next delivery, he rattled Chris Benjamin’s stumps.

Shaheen didn’t stop there as he then dismissed Dan Mousley and Ed Barnard to complete 4 wickets in the first over, which is the world record for most dismissals in the opening over of a T20 match.

Aakash Chopra Issues Massive ‘Shaheen Afridi’ Warning To India

Aakash Chopra was among the people who were extremely impressed with Shaheen’s first over. The cricketer-turned-commentator took to Twitter to shower praise on the left-arm pacer for his “simply unplayable” deliveries and issue a warning to Team India ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Chopra also hailed Shaheen for being courageous enough to bowl full-length deliveries at high speed. Former India National Cricket Team opening batsman stated:

“Yesterday, Shaheen Afridi took 4 wickets in the first over the innings…some of the deliveries were simply unplayable. Swing at high speed…and the courage to bowl really full,” tweeted Chopra.

The arch-rivals – India and Pakistan – will lock horns with each other in the high-profile World Cup 2023 match on October 15. The match is set to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It will be the third successive year that India and Pakistan will go head-to-head in an ICC event in October, having previously locked horns at T20 World Cup 2021 and T20 World Cup 2022.
