Young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a century on his debut during the ongoing Test match against the West Indies in Dominica on Thursday, July 13. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah praised Yashasvi Jaiswal for his incredible achievement in international cricket.
Yashasvi Jaiswal received his maiden call-up to the national team following his impressive performances in domestic cricket. The left-handed batter made his debut in the first match against the West Indies. He made the most of the opportunity by smashing a hundred in his first match in Test cricket.

Jay Shah took to Twitter to appreciate Yashasvi Jaiswal for his remarkable debut performance, describing him as a promising talent for the future.

Yashasvi Jaiswal joined the elite list of Indian batters to score a Test century on debut, becoming the 17th player to achieve this feat. The left-hander reached the milestone during the 70th over of India’s first innings after facing 215 balls.
Rohit Sharma, who also scored a century on his debut Test in 2013, opened the innings with Jaiswal. Rohit also smashed a century in the series opener, scoring 103 runs off 221 balls. The duo added a record-breaking 229-run partnership for the first wicket.

Team India lost two quick wickets just before the tea break. Shubman Gill managed to score only six runs before being dismissed by Jomel Warrican. Virat Kohli (36 runs off 96) and Jaiswal (143 off 350) remained unbeaten at the stumps, helping the team reach 312-2.
