Mumbai Indians have made massive changes to their coaching staff ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The five-time champions have made a new addition to their fielding department as they have roped in Englishman Carl Hopkinson as their new fielding coach.
Carl Hopkinson will be replacing James Pamment in the role at MI in IPL. He was part of the team for the last seven years and also played an instrumental role in helping Mumbai Indians win the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2019 and 2020.

Carl Hopkinson will be joining a team on the back of the strong experience. He was part of the England National Cricket Team in the fielding setup for the past seven years. He was at the helm of things when the team won the ICC World Cup 2019 and the T20 World Cup 2022 and would be keen to emulate the same for the Mumbai Indians.
Carl Hopkinson was also the head fielding coach of England in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022. Under him, the Three Lions ended up as the runners-up after reaching the final for the first time since 1998.

Releasing the official statement, MI stated:
"The five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians have appointed Englishman Carl Hopkinson as their new fielding coach ahead of IPL 2025. The 43-year-old comes in with a pool of experience, leading the fielding unit of the England men’s cricket team for the past seven years.
"He played an instrumental role in their triumphant ODI World Cup 2019 and T20 World Cup 2022 campaigns. Nicknamed Hoppo, he was also Three Lions’ head fielding coach for the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022, where they finished as the runners-up after reaching the final for the first time since 1998."

Not only this, MI also made changes to their coaching setup in the ILT20. They have roped in Paras Mhambrey and Carl Hopkinson as the Bowling and Fielding Coaches ahead of the 2025 season of the league.
Paras Mhambrey, who was the bowling coach of the India team that won the T20 World Cup 2024, was recently appointed as the bowling coach of the franchise in IPL. They will be joining Robin Singh and Vinay Kumar, who are the Head Coach and the Assistant Coach, respectively in ILT20.
Paras Mhambrey and Carl Hopkinson will be replacing Mitchell McClenaghan and James Franklin in the roles at MI Emirates. The duo served Mumbai Indians for a long and played an instrumental role in the success of franchises across the globe.
