MS Dhoni is known for his calmness and likes to deal with things in his way. The 'Captain Cool' is one of the finest cricketers to have ever played this game and has taken India over the line in several crunch moments.

But there was one match which was a heartbreak moment even for Dhoni and it could be seen through his face as well. In the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, India lost a match they were so close to winning and bowed out of the tournament despite topping the group stage.

The match was a close one as Dhoni was the last recognized batter to fall for India during the match. His wicket proved to be a heartbreak not only for him and Team India but also for a billion Indians around the globe.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Dhoni was asked by a fan how he managed to deal with the pain of losing such a close semifinal game. The former captain replied by saying that it was a heartbreak moment for him as it was his last World Cup.

"It was a difficult one because I knew that this would be my last World Cup, so it would have been good to be on the winning side. It was a heartbreak moment, so we accepted the result and we tried to move on," Dhoni said.

Dhoni further mentioned that it takes time to get out of such situations but you have to accept that you were not able to win despite trying your best.

"Time thoda lagta hai aur World Cup ke baad thoda time mil bhi jata hai. Maine toh uske baad international khela nahi hai toh mujhe toh kaafi time mila hai. (It takes time and one gets some time after the World Cup. I haven't played any internationally since that, so I have a lot of time). So, yes, it was a heartbreak but at the same time, you have to get out of it. So you just accept that you tried your best, but you were not able to win it," he added.

Ravindra Jadeja played his best ODI innings

In the match, Ravindra Jadeja top-scored for India with 77 off 59 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes. It was Jadeja's best ODI innings to date. After India was reduced to 92-6, Dhoni and Jadeja formed a brilliant 116-run partnership which took India closer to victory.

But Jadeja's wicket put the pressure back on Dhoni. It was a perfect situation for Dhoni to show his finishing abilities as India needed 31 off 12 balls with him and Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the crease.

The first ball of the penultimate over bowled by a fast bowler was hit by Dhoni for a six of backward point. The second ball turned out to be a dot while the third ball hit Dhoni's glove and went to Martin Guptill at deep backward square leg.

Guptill threw down the stumps from the deep to catch Dhoni centimeters short of the crease. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 50 off 72 balls as India lost the match.
