Pakistan take on visitors England in the second T20I in Karachi on September 22. They lost the first T20I and will be looking to level the series in the next game. This is a seven-match series with the first four games in Karachi and the final three in Lahore. This T20I series is a dress rehearsal for both teams for the T20 World Cup in Australia.
Pakistan were 85/1 in the first 10 overs in the first T20I. They were restricted to 158/7 in their 20 overs. Skipper Babar Azam lamented his side not capitalising in the final 10 overs in their batting innings.
“We utilized the batting powerplay well, but we let the momentum slip after the 10th over. Credit to their bowlers, but we were not up to the mark and we didn’t get the partnerships. They worked out the conditions well, but our batters should have done better. We’re trying different combinations before the World cup, we’ll test our bench strength and then go to the tournament with our best team” said Babar.
Heading into the second game, the batters need to give the bowlers a good total to defend in the bating-friendly conditions in Karachi. None of the batters barring Rizwan looked set on the wicket. Chasing has been easier at the venue because of the dew. It is expected to be the norm in the rest of the games as well. In this article, we predict Pakistan’s playing XI against England for the second T20I.
PAK vs ENG: Pakistan’s Predicted Playing XI Against England, England Tour Of Pakistan 2022, 2nd T20I
Babar Azam (C)
Babar scored 31 in the first T20I but did not look at his very best. He will look to get back to form in the next game. The Pakistan skipper has been struggling for form since the Asi Cup 2022.
Mohammad Rizwan (WK)
Rizwan scored 68 in the first T20I and in the process, completed 2000 runs in T20Is. He is the best in-form batter for Pakistan at the moment.
Haider Ali
Iftikhar Ahmed
Iftikhar can come in at number four in the lineup. He scored 28 off 17 balls in the first T20I. He can bat at number four.
Asif Ali
Hard-hitting batter Asif Ali can replace Shan Masood in the playing XI who scored just seven. His power-hitting is needed in the lineup.
Mohammad Nawaz
Nawaz can bat anywhere between four to seven depending on the team combination. He played a few good cameos for Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
Shadab Khan
Shadab can replace Khusdil Shah in the playing XI. He is a good batter lower down the order and Pakistan needs his prowess with the ball in the series.
Naseem Shah
Naseem has been in good bowling form since the Asia Cup. However, he was expensive with the ball in the first T20I giving away 41 runs off his four overs.
Haris Rauf
Haris will lead the bowling attack in the second T20I against England. He bowled well giving away 23 runs off his spell in the first game.
Shahnawaz Dahani
Dahani made a comeback into the XI. He picked up one for 38 in the first T20I. The Pakistan pace needs to get more wickets in the second T20I.
Usman Qadir
Usman the leggie will conclude Pakistan’s likely playing XI in the second T20I. He will pair up with Shadab. This Pakistan lineup has enough options with the ball.
