The senior men's selection committee has picked the India A side for the two multi-day matches of the series against Australia A. The series will start on the 16th of September, while the second match will commence on the 23rd of September. Both matches are to be played in Lucknow.
India A Squad Announced for Australia series: Shreyas Iyer named skipper
Shreyas Iyer, the player who has been the centre point of controversies recently, has been named the skipper of the India A side after being snubbed from the Asia Cup squad. Iyer, who is no longer a part of the Indian red-ball side, might cite this as an opportunity to make a strong comeback.
Though the India A squad for the One-day matches is yet to be announced, it can be expected that the likes of Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and even Rohit Sharma might be seen representing India since they have not played a single white-ball international since the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Squad: Shreyas Iyer (C), Abhimanyu Easwaran, N. Jagadeesan (WK), Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel (VC & WK), Devdutt Padikkal, Harsh Dubey, Ayush Badoni, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Tanush Kotian, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Khaleel Ahmed, Manav Suthar, and Yash Thakur.
Ayush Badoni and Narayan Jagadeesan claim India A spots after Duleep Trophy hundreds
Ayush Badoni is among the latest admissions to the India A squad. The Delhi batter has been picked up after putting on some commendable performances for North Zone in the Duleep Trophy.
In the quarter-final game for the North Zone, the middle-order batter scored a stunning double hundred in the second innings after having put on a well-deserved fifty in the first innings.
On the other hand, Jagadeesan, who recently earned his maiden Indian team call-up during the England tour but is yet to get his debut cap, scored a breathtaking 197 for the South Zone before missing out on a hundred by a very close margin.
KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj to join for the 2nd multi-day match
KL Rahul, on the other hand, will join the India A squad for the 2nd multi-day game alongside Mohammed Siraj. They would replace the two players from this current squad for the second match.
These multi-day matches will be followed by three more one-day games, which will be scheduled to take place on the 30th of September, 2025. The remaining two matches will be played on the 3rd and 5th of October 2025.
They were both part of India's successful campaign in England, where KL Rahul finished as their second-highest run getter, and Mohammed Siraj, the face of India's constant success in England, the highest wicket-taker with 23 wickets.
