The India National Cricket Team recorded yet another dominating series win under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, as they clean-swept the West Indies in the two-match Test series 2-0 at home. On Tuesday, October 14, India defeated the West Indies by seven wickets in the second Test in Delhi.
India starts Day 5 needing 58 runs to win the second Test and record another clean sweep of the West Indies. However, the West Indies bowlers have shown great fight as the hosts quickly lost two wickets in Sai Sudharsan (39) and Shubman Gill (13) on the morning of the fifth day.

Gill tried to take on Roston Chase but made a mistake in his execution. He stepped out and went for another big shot, but the timing wasn’t right. The ball went high in the air and landed straight in the hands of Justin Greaves at mid-wicket.

Earlier, Sai Sudharsan also lost his wicket while playing an aggressive shot off Chase. His attacking intent led to his downfall, costing India two quick wickets. However, KL Rahul batted without taking much risk after hitting the box on Day 4 and took India over the line against the West Indies.
Rahul remained unbeaten, playing a brilliant knock of 58 runs off 108 balls with the help of six boundaries and two sixes at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India had finished day 4 at 63 for 1 in just 18 overs while chasing a modest 121-run target at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Although Yashasvi Jaiswal departed early, the calm partnership between Sai Sudharsan and KL Rahul ensured India stayed firmly on track to seal the series in style on day 5.

However, day 4 wasn’t entirely one-sided. The West Indies showed remarkable fight earlier in their second innings. A brilliant last-wicket stand of 79 runs between Justin Greaves (50*) and Jayden Seales (32) frustrated the Indian bowlers and pushed their total to a respectable 390 after being asked to follow on.
Their resistance kept India’s bowlers on their toes for most of the session. It was a day to remember for West Indies opener John Campbell, who brought up his maiden Test century with determination and patience. Shai Hope also ended his long eight-year wait for a Test hundred, guiding his team through crucial phases.

But India’s bowling attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav, once again proved why it’s one of the most feared in world cricket. Both picked up three wickets each, breaking partnerships and ensuring that India remained in control despite the Caribbean fightback.

Earlier in the match, the West Indies had been bundled out for 248 in their first innings. Tagenarine Chanderpaul (34), Alick Athanaze (41), and Shai Hope (36) made valuable contributions but couldn’t convert their starts into big scores.
For India, Kuldeep Yadav was simply unstoppable, grabbing five wickets with his clever variations, while Ravindra Jadeja’s precision earned him three. Earlier, India declared their innings at 518 for 5, thanks to stunning centuries from Shubman Gill (129*) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (175).
Sai Sudharsan also played a solid knock of 87 runs in Delhi. Jomel Warrican was the standout bowler for the West Indies with three scalps. Now, India sealed a 2-0 series win and also secured 12 crucial World Test Championship points.
