Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) takes on Gujarat Titans at home in Hyderabad in their penultimate league game on Thursday, May 16. This is a must-win game for the Orange Army to stay in the hunt for the IPL 2024 playoffs. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans were eliminated from the tournament after their match against KKR was washed out due to rain.
Currently, SRH are placed fourth on the points table with 14 points and an NRR of +0.406. Two back-to-back wins in their remaining two games will give them a top-two finish. Even one win from their remaining two games will take them through to the playoffs given their NRR is better than the teams below them.
SRH won their previous game to LSG by 10 wickets. That win and RCB's win over DC has put the table wide open and still seven teams are open to reaching the playoffs with KKR having already cemented a spot in the playoffs.
For SRH winning the next two matches at home will make their task easier. That they will play their last two games gives them a big advantage against some of the other teams who are still in the race.
SRH are playing after almost a week since their previous 10-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in their previous game. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma once again showed their batting prowess in the game and SRH should ideally play the same side and back themselves to win at home against GT.
