The Indian team was outplayed by Sri Lanka in the T20I series. The Dasun Shanaka-led team crushed the Shikhar Dhawan and boys in Sri Lanka vs India 3rd T20I by 7 wickets, thereby, winning the T20I series 2-1. For India, 9 crucial players could not take part in the 2nd and 3rd games, which affected India???s performance to a great extent.

While Krunal Pandya was separated from the squad for contacting covid-19, players like Prithvi Shaw, Hardik Pandya, Deepak Chahar, Ishan Kishan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, and Krishnappa Gowtham were sent under strict isolation after the 1st encounter.

The rest of the players, which consisted of mostly inexperienced ones, could not come up with an effective show against the home side. In this article, we take about the performance rating of the India squad in the T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Prithvi Shaw gets the least rating in this list. The right-handed batsman played only Sri Lanka vs India 1st T20I game, in which he was gone for a golden duck. On the very first delivery of Dushmantha Chameera, Shaw got an edge which was easily caught by wicketkeeper Minod Bhanuka. Since Shaw could not score any runs in the series, he gets a rating of 2 out of 10.

Sandeep Warrier- 3/10

Sandeep Warrier gets a rating of just 3 out of 10. Warrier made his international debut in Sri Lanka vs India 3rd T20I match. The right-arm medium pacer could not grab a wicket in the game, after conceding 23 runs in his 3 overs.

Nitish Rana- 3.5/10

Nitish Rana had a good opportunity to show his hard-hitting batting skills in the 2nd and 3rd T20I. However, the left-handed batsman could not give an exceptional performance. In the 2nd T20I, he was dismissed for 9 runs. In the 3rd game, he lost his wicket for just 6 runs. Rana gets a rating of 3.5 out of 10 for his poor batting performance.

Chetan Sakariya- 3.5/10

Chetan Sakariya gets a rating of 3.5. The left-arm pacer played 2 matches during Sri Lanka vs India T20I series, in which he bowled in one match. In the 2nd T20I match, Sakariya picked 1 wicket but gave away 34 runs in 3.4 overs at an economy rate of 9.27.

Hardik Pandya- 5/10

Hardik Pandya could not impress fans with his batting or bowling show during entire Sri Lanka vs India ODI and T20I series. After struggling to score runs in the ODI series, the all-rounder was part of the 1st T20I game. At a very crucial moment when India needed runs on the scoreboard in the death overs, Pandya lost his wicket scoring 10 runs off 12 balls. He picked a wicket later, after conceding 17 runs in his 2 overs. He gets a rating of 5 out of 10.

Krunal Pandya- 4/10

Krunal Pandya, who was looking in a good form during India???s tour of Sri Lanka, had to leave the T20I series post 1st encounter for contacting covid-19. In the 1st match, he scored 3 runs of 3 balls, failing to hit a big shot in the final overs. While bowling, the left-arm spinner picked 1 wicket for 16 runs in his 2 overs. Krunal Pandya gets a rating of 5 out of 10.

Ishan Kishan- 5.5/10

Wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan played the 1st T20I match, after which he was sent into strict isolation. The left-handed batsman scored unbeaten 20 runs off 12 balls in Sri Lanka vs India 1st T20I, which was quite better than the other lower-order batsmen in the match. Kishan gets a rating of 5.5 out of 10.

Sanju Samson gets a rating of 4 out of 10. The wicketkeeper guarded the stumps in all three T20I games. While the right-handed batsman got out for 7 and 0 in 2nd and 3rd T20I, he hit a decent knock of 27 runs off 20 balls in the 1st T20I.

Ruturaj Gaikwad- 6.5/10

Ruturaj Gaikwad played as an opener in Sri Lanka vs India 2nd and 3rd T20I match, making his international debut. However, the right-handed batsman could not score a big knock. He scored 21 and 14 in the two games, totaling 35 runs in 2 innings at an average of 17.50 and strike rate of 125. He gets a rating of 6.5 out of 10.

Devdutt Padikkal gets a rating of 6.6 out of 10. The left-handed batsman scored 28 total runs in the 2nd and 3rd T20I at an average of 19. In Sri Lanka vs India 2nd T20I, Padikkal scored 29 runs which can be termed a good knock as India scored only 132 in the match batting first.

Yuzvendra Chahal- 7/10

Yuzvendra Chahal played in only Sri Lanka vs India 1st T20I, post which the right-arm spinner had to undergo strict isolation. However, he gave a great bowling show in the match, picking 1 wicket in his 4 overs while conceding 19 runs. For his great economy and 1 wicket while bowling, the leg spinner gets a rating of 7 out of 10.

Varun Chakravarthy- 7.5/10

Varun Chakravarthy played all the three T20I games held between India and Sri Lanka. In 3 matches, the right-arm spinner picked 2 wickets in 11.3 overs. Throughout the three matches, he bowled at a brilliant economy of 5.30. Chakravarthy gets a rating of 7.5 out of 10.

Deepak Chahar- 8/10

Deepak Chahar gets a rating of 8 out of 10. After his amazing all-round show in the ODI series, Chahar bowled a good spell in Sri Lanka vs India 1st T20I clash. Chahar picked 2 crucial wickets when Sri Lanka were at the peak of their batting in the match. His 2-wicket haul in a single over helped India to crush the home side to 226 all-out against a target of 165.

Kuldeep Yadav also gets a rating of 8 out of 10. The left-arm spinner picked 2 wickets in the 2 games he played at an economy of 7.66. Moreover, in Sri Lanka vs India 3rd T20I, Yadav scored crucial unbeaten 23 runs when the entire team lost the wicket cheaply. Hence, Yadav gave all his efforts to the team during the series.

Shikhar Dhawan gets a rating of 8.5 out of 10. Although the skipper got out for a duck in Sri Lanka vs India 3rd T20I, he scored two brilliant knocks in the earlier two games. In the 1st T20I clash, the left-handed batsman smashed 46 runs. He followed up his batting with another 40 runs in the 2nd game. Although Dhawan could not lead the team to victory in the T20I series, he gave his 100 percent effort in the batting zone.

Rahul Chahar- 9/10

Rahul Chahar gets a rating of 9 out of 10. The right-arm spinner picked 4 wickets in the 2 games he played. In the 1st T20I, he picked 1 wicket for 27 runs. In the 3rd game, he picked 3 wickets for 15 runs in his 4 overs. Overall in both the games, he maintains an economy of 5.25.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar- 9.5/10

Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets a rating of 9.5 for his performance during Sri Lanka vs India T20I series. The right-arm pacer picked 4 wickets for 22 runs in the 1st T20I, bagging the player of the match award. Overall in the series, he picked 5 wickets at an economy of 5.47.

Suryakumar Yadav- 9.5/10

Suryakumar Yadav gets the highest rating of 9.5 out of 10 for his spectacular batting performance. He hit an amazing half-century in Sri Lanka vs India 1st T20I. He earned the player of the series award in the ODI series and followed up his performance in the 1st T20I as well. He was sent to strict isolation after the 1st T20I so could not play in the rest of the two games.
