There Are 4-5 Players In Indian Team Who Can Do The Captain's Job In Tests - Brett Lee
Former Australian bowling spearhead Brett Lee believes that Virat Kohli’s resignation as the Test captain was his call and the management has at least four or five players to replace him at the moment.
Kohli stepped down as the Test captain as well after a 1-2 series loss to South Africa. Ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka, the BCCI is on the lookout for a new candidate.
“It is totally Virat Kohli’s call. I have been focused on the Big Bash League back home and obviously, the Ashes. I cannot say much about it, it is totally up to Virat Kohli.
“I think there are four-five players who can lead India in Tests right only, only time will tell. It is totally up to the Indian management, there are four-five players who can do the job,” Lee told ANI.
“Think Pat Cummins’ captaincy has been really, really solid” – Brett Lee
Lee also praised the new Australian Test captain, Pat Cummins, who took over the role after Tim Paine’s abrupt break following a sexting scandal. Cummins led Australia to 3 victories in four Tests against England in the Ashes.
“We won 4-0? I think he has done a pretty good job. I think his captaincy has been really, really solid and he was supported by some great people around him. The issue may have been will Pat Cummins be able to take wickets once he’s the captain. He has proven he can do that. So I was really happy for him,” Lee said.
Australia won the series 4-0 and also became the No.1 side in Tests, toppling India from their perch. They will now embark upon a subcontinental journey where their skills will be truly tested.
