Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar addressed the injury scare surrounding star batter Virat Kohli following their victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2026 season. Kohli suffered a concerning ankle issue and did not field for the entire second innings, raising concerns about his fitness.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in their recent match at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 12. The Bengaluru-based franchise defended a total of 240 runs. RCB are in third place on the points table with six points, while Mumbai are in eighth place with just two points.

Virat Kohli appeared uncomfortable while scoring a fifty off 38 deliveries. The veteran batter finished his innings with five boundaries and one six at a strike rate of 131.57. Jacob Bethell replaced Kohli on the field while the medical team treated his ankle inside the dressing room.

Rajat Patidar addressed the media during the post-match presentation and provided a positive update on Kohli’s condition despite his absence from the field.

"I don’t know yet, but I feel he’s okay right now," Patidar said.

During the post-match press conference, Krunal Pandya also spoke about the situation, expressing confidence in Kohli’s recovery.

"I haven’t spoken to our physio yet, but I think Virat will be fine," Krunal added.

Phil Salt smashed 78 runs, while Rajat Patidar added 53 to help Royal Challengers Bengaluru post a massive total of 240/4. Patidar praised the explosive opening stand and the Australian batter Tim David.

"And the way Virat bhai and Salt started the innings, I think that kept us in the driving seat. Then a good cameo by me and Tim (David), I think that was a pure team efforts I would say," Patidar said.

Mumbai Indians were restricted to 222/5, losing by 18 runs. Sherfane Rutherford remained unbeaten on 71 off 31 balls. Suyash Sharma picked up two key wickets, while Krunal Pandya bowled a tight spell, conceding just 26 runs in four overs.

One Pandya Had to Win, and I Guess I Was the Lucky One in That - Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya enjoyed a special homecoming at Wankhede Stadium as he defeated his brother Hardik Pandya. The left-arm spinner spoke about his strong emotional bond with the venue and added that one of the Pandya brothers had to win.

"Wankhede has always been close to my heart. I have played here for six years and was lucky enough to win three trophies in that time. So it has always been special coming over here, and as I said last year as well, eventually the points were coming home only. One Pandya had to win, and I guess I was the lucky one in that," Krunal said.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are currently third on the points table with six points. Virat Kohli is fifth in the Orange Cap race with 179 runs at an average of 59.67 and a strike rate of 162.72.

Rajat Patidar holds the second spot with 195 runs at a strike rate of 214.28, just behind leader Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has scored 200 runs.
