The Rajat Patidar-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) went head-to-head with the Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 24th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost the IPL 2025 match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 6 wickets on Thursday, April 10, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

I think the way we saw the wicket, it was quite different - Rajat Patidar

After being invited to bat first in the match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted a below-par total of 163/7 on the board despite getting off to a blistering start, thanks to Phil Salt and Virat Kohli. Defending the total, the RCB bowlers picked early wickets but were unable to stop KL Rahul, who slammed brutal 93* runs to hand RCB a defeat.

Speaking to the broadcasters after the conclusion of the match, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar said that they assessed the wicket wrongly as they felt that the batting would have been easier on the track. He stated:

"I think the way we saw the wicket, it was quite different, we thought it was a nice batting wicket, but we didn't bat well."

When asked if the Virat Kohli-starrer Royal Challengers Bengaluru batting unit got a little overconfident, Rajat Patidar denied the claim and said that they are just in a good frame of mind. He stated:

"I don't think so (if the batters were overconfident), every batter was in a good frame of mind, showing proper intent."

It wasn't acceptable to go from 80 for 1 to 90 for 4 - Rajat Patidar

Rajat Patidar, however, expressed disappointment over the batting performance of his team, saying that losing quick wickets after a great start was unacceptable. He said:

"But it wasn't acceptable to go from 80 for 1 to 90 for 4, we have a good batting line-up, but we need to assess the situation. That has been positive, the way Tim David accelerated was amazing, the bowling in the powerplay was special."

When asked if Royal Challengers Bengaluru are relieved that their next game is away from home as they have got a great away record, he said:

"We aren't thinking about our away record, but we just need to play good cricket and keep it simple."

How did RCB perform in the previous IPL match against DC?

Royal Challengers Bengaluru delivered a commanding performance to defeat Delhi Capitals by 47 runs in their previous IPL clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Batting first, RCB had a shaky start, losing Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli early. However, the middle order stepped up to steady the ship. Rajat Patidar smashed 52 off 32, while Will Jacks scored 41 off 29 in a crucial 88-run stand. Their aggressive intent pushed DC onto the backfoot before a minor collapse at the death saw RCB end with a score of 187/9.

Defending the total, RCB’s bowling attack did a great job. Their brilliant efforts saw DC being bowled out for 140, sealing a 47-run win for RCB. Yash Dayal emerged as the top wicket-taker with three wickets under his belt, while Lockie Ferguson, Cameron Green, Swapnil Singh, and Mohammed Siraj also bagged wickets.
