A hilarious incident took place during the match between the Chepauk Super Gillies and Siechem Madurai Panthers during the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 season. A local man refused to return the ball to the field after a batter smashed a six out of the ground during the recent TNPL 2024 match.
Siechem Madurai Panthers secured a 9-run victory over the Chepauk Super Gillies at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul on Sunday, July 28. Siechem Madurai Panthers successfully defended 191 runs in the 27th match of the TNPL 2024. The Panthers were eliminated from the tournament despite the win.
The Panthers posted a competitive total of 191-4 in their 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Suresh Lokeshwar scored 55 runs off 40 balls, and Jagatheesan Kousik added an unbeaten 43 off 24. Baba Aparajith was the top bowler for the Super Gillies. He took one wicket for just 23 runs in his four overs.

Star Sports Tamil shared the incident on social media X (formerly known as Twitter). A left-handed batter from Chepauk Super Gillies smashed a six off a short ball from a right-arm pacer. A local man was quick to take the ball as it went outside the stadium.
The individual refused to return the ball and walked away with it. When asked to give it back, he said it wouldn’t be coming back to the field. The incident was captured on camera and quickly went viral across social media platforms on the internet.

The Super Gillies put up a strong fight during the chase. Pradosh Ranjan Paul scored 52 runs off 37 balls, including one boundary and four sixes, while D Santhosh Kumar contributed 48 off 36 balls. Siechem Madurai Panthers secured a narrow victory with Karthick Manikandan taking three wickets for 23 runs.
TNPL 2024 Tournament Set For Business Stage
The Tamil Nadu Premier League is one of India's premier state-based T20 leagues. Veteran Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin and IPL 2024 champion Varun Chakravarthy are part of the tournament. Young players like Sai Sudarshan and Sai Kishore are notable players in the tournament this season.
Lyca Kovai Kings, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, Chepauk Super Gillies, and Dindigul Dragons advanced to the playoffs. Lyca Kovai Kings will lock horns with IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in Qualifier 1 on July 30. The Eliminator match between Chepauk Super Gillies and Dindigul Dragons will take place on July 31.
The loser of Qualifier 1 will face the winner of the Eliminator in Qualifier 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on August 2. The final match of the ongoing TNPL tournament will be played at the same venue on Sunday, August 4.
