England National Cricket Team skipper Jos Buttler didn't have a great outing with the bat in his final outing as captain during the game against South Africa National Cricket Team. The 11th match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is taking place at the National Stadium in Karachi.
After opting to bat first, the England National Cricket Team had a torrid outing with the bat. The Three Lions kept losing wickets right from the first over of the innings as no batter could make a bigger impact with South Africa National Cricket Team bowlers asserting their authority.
Jos Buttler tried to keep his team in the hunt
With the team under massive pressure, skipper Jos Buttler tried to keep his team in the hunt. The keeper-batter attempted to hold the innings but couldn't carry as, just like the other batters, he ended up giving his wicket after having a decent start with the bat.
Jos Buttler, who looked scratchy, was removed by Lungi Ngidi, who bowled a slower seam-up delivery that was angling in. Jos Buttler got forward to drive and managed to get it off a thick inside half. He ended up giving a simple catch to Keshav Maharaj at mid-off. After he got out, he looked absolutely dejected as the last hope for the England National Cricket Team ended as well.

Jos Buttler announced his decision to step down as the captain of England ahead of game against South Africa
On the eve of the game, Jos Buttler announced his decision to step down as the captain of England. This comes after the Three Lions failed to qualify for the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This was the second time in the last three ICC events that they faced the group stage exit.
However, his last game as a captain isn't turning out in a way he would've wanted. In the ongoing game, England National Cricket Team got all out for just 179 runs. Joe Root was the top run-getter with 37 runs, while the rest of the batters failed to go past the 30-run mark.
For South Africa, Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder also picked three wickets, while Keshav Maharaj chipped in with two scalps. Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada were amongst the wickets as well.
