Fortune Barishal captain Shakib Al Hasan had an argument with the umpire during their BPL9 match against Rangpur Riders at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on 10 January 2023.

Barishal’s chase began after some back-and-forth regarding who would take the first strike and who would begin the bowling for Rangpur.

Fortune Barishal defeated Rangpur Riders by six wickets in a contentious encounter in the ninth Bangladesh Premier League that saw Barishal players getting into repeated altercations with the umpires thanks to Ibrahim Zadran’s half-century and Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s quickfire 43 off 29 balls.

Tuesday’s second game between Barishal and Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka resulted in Barishal’s first victory thanks to an 84-run partnership between Ibrahim (who scored 52 off 41 balls) and Miraz (off 58 deliveries).

After being dismissed, Iftikhar Ahmed of Pakistan (25 off 18 balls) and Karim Janat of Afghanistan (21 off 14 balls) put together an uninterrupted 38-run partnership off 24 deliveries, bringing Barishal to 162-4 in 19.2 overs.

Earlier, veteran Pakistani hitter Shoab Malik hit 54 off 36 balls and in-form batter Rony Talukdar hit 40 off 28 balls to help Rangpur post 158-7.

Barishal’s chase began after some back-and-forth regarding who would take the first strike and who would begin the bowling for Rangpur.

The openers and opening bowlers swapped places twice before the skipper of Barishal came onto the field and got into a furious argument with the umpire.

Fortune Barishal won easily by six wickets over Rangpur Riders in the seventh match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) today at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (January 10).
