India’s Smriti Mandhana produced an exceptional fielding effort during the match between the Southern Brave and the Trent Rockets in the ongoing Women’s Hundred 2024. Smriti Mandhana ran out Trent Rockets opener Bryony Smith for a golden duck in the 24th match of the Women's Hundred 2024 season.
The Southern Brave Women won the toss and opted to field against the Trent Rockets Women at Rose Bowl Stadium in Southampton on Saturday, August 10. The Trent Rockets Women got off to a poor start in the match as they lost the wicket of Bryony Smith on the first ball of the ongoing 100-ball match.

Lauren Cheatle opened the bowling attack for the Georgia Adams-led team. Bryony Smith attempted a quick single on the opening ball of the game after guiding it towards mid-on. Smriti Mandhana made a remarkable direct hit from 20 yards away with just one stump to aim at from that angle.
Bryony Smith was nowhere near the crease when the ball hit the stumps. The Southern Brave players celebrated enthusiastically around Mandhana. The Hundred’s official handle shared the video of Mandhana's impressive fielding effort on social media account X (formerly known as Twitter).

Smriti Mandhana has had a tough start with the bat in her first three innings in this year's Hundred tournament. The left-handed batter registered scores of 15, 0, and 2 in her first three innings. Last year, the Indian opening batter scored 238 runs in nine matches, including two half-centuries.
Trent Rockets Manages To Score 155 Runs In 100 Balls
The Trent Rockets scored 155 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 100 balls. Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt made 60 runs off 37 balls, including eight boundaries and a six. Grace Scrivens contributed 36 runs off 24 balls with five boundaries. The other batters failed to make significant contributions for the Rockets.
Lauren Bell picked up three wickets for 36 runs in her 20 deliveries. Lauren Cheatle, Georgia Adams, and Chloe Tryon each took one wicket. Southern Brave needs to score 156 runs to register their second win of the ongoing season.
Southern Brave At The Bottom Of The Points Table
The Southern Brave are at the bottom of the Women's Hundred table. The Brave have won just one match in the tournament so far. They secured a victory over Oval Invincibles in their recent match. Their game against the Northern Superchargers ended in a tie.
They need another win to stay in contention for the knockout stages. The Trent Rockets have won two of their first five matches and are currently in fifth place in the points table under the leadership of Nat Sciver-Brunt.
