The West Indies beat the United Arab Emirates by four wickets in the third and final ODI of the three-match series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah, on Friday, June 9. The Caribbean team whitewashed a three-match series and gained confidence ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers.
Roston Chase led the team in the absence of regular skipper Shai Hope, who missed the match due to a niggle. The Windies bowlers bundled out the UAE team for 184 runs in 36.1 overs after losing the toss. The Roston Chase-led team chased down a below-par target in 35.1 overs with four wickets in hand.

Alick Athanaze Scored Joint-Fastest Half Century On Debut In ODIs
Young batter Alick Athanaze made his ODI debut in the final match of the series. Athanaze grabbed the opportunity with both hands and smashed the joint-fastest half-century on his debut in ODI cricket history. He reached the milestone in just 26 balls, equaling Krunal Pandya’s record.
The left-handed batter scored 65 runs off 45 balls with the help of nine boundaries and three sixes. The opening batter helped the team reach the 100-run mark in 15 overs. He put the team in a formidable position with his knock. However, the middle-order batters struggled to chase down the target.

In the post-match presentation, stand-in skipper Roston Chase praised Alick Athanaze and said that he expressed himself without feeling extra pressure.
“He has been in some ripping form, he has the confidence and backing [on Athanaze]. Just went there and expressed himself. Not too much feedback on the reverse sweep, he plays that well and he has our backing,” Chase said.
