Former West Indian skipper Jason Holder created a unique record in the fifth and final T20I against England at Barbados on Sunday. He became the first West Indian bowler to take a hat-trick in T20Is.

He eventually took four wickets in four balls to help his side to a 17-run win against the Three Lions. They won the series 3-2 with Holder being named as the Player of The Series as well.

Jason Holder dismissed Chris Jordan, Sam Billings, Adil Rashid and Saqib Mahmood of consecutive deliveries with the visitors needing 20 runs to win off the final over. All four of them perished in trying to hit big sixes towards the cow corner.

Here is a video of Jason Holder’s four wickets in four balls:

Batting first, West Indies scored 179/4 with Kieron Pollard scoring 41* off 25 balls in the final overs. With him, Rovman Powell scored an unbeaten 35 off 17 balls as well. Brandon King (34) and Kyle Mayers (31) added 59 for the first wicket to give the hosts a good start.

England’s chase faltered early with Jason Roy and Tom Banton dismissed early. Apart from James Vince’s 55 and Sam Billings’ 41 none of the other England batters could get going in the game. Eventually, they fell short by 17 runs courtesy of Jason Holder’s magical 20th over.

Happy That I Was Given The Responsibility Of Bowling The Final Over: Jason Holder

“Bowling the last over tonight just added to it, I’m happy that I was given the responsibility. I am feeling good about my role in the team, I pass on my experience, pride myself as a complete team player, just want to put my hand up, even when I’m not bowling, I can share a few things with the younger lot. A lot of thanks to the management and the staff.

“Big thumbs-up to the ECB and the English guys, they aren’t just great players, but they’re good and humble people. Happy to have them here in Barbados, that helps us as a team and as an economy as well,” said Holder after being nominated as the Man of the Match and the series.

He is a part of the West Indian ODI and T20I squads which will now travel to India for a white-ball series comprising of three ODIs and three T20Is. The ODI series starts in Ahmedabad on February 6. The next two ODIs will be played there as well before teams move to Kolkata for the three-match T20I series.
