However, it was Arya’s composure and clean hitting during his maiden IPL hundred that impressed many. The left-handed batter wasn’t just slogging but also picked his shots smartly and dominated both pacers and spinners and turned the pressure back on Chennai Super Kings.

Priyansh Arya’s hundred is now the fastest ever by an uncapped Indian player in the IPL and also the fastest century ever scored against CSK. Notably, Arya has so far amassed 158 runs for Punjab in four games in the tournament at an average of around 40 and a strike rate of over 210.

After PBKS’s thrilling 18-run win over CSK, Arya’s coach, Sanjay Bharadwaj, who also trained big names like Gautam Gambhir, Nitish Rana, and Amit Mishra, opened up about the conversation he had with the PBKS sensation. He also lauded Arya’s down-to-earth nature.

Sanjay Bharadwaj was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times, “Just before speaking to you, Priyansh had called. He said, 'Namaskar, sir.' He then asked me, 'Theek tha?' (Was it okay?). I then questioned him about what happened yesterday. He then said that it was nothing but God's doing. I didn't do anything (laughs).

I always tell him that it is God who is doing everything. He is just making things happen by your means. He called me at 7:30 in the morning. He slept at 2-3 AM in the night. He has always been like this. He is very down-to-earth and always respectful.”

Priyansh Arya's coach reveals how blindly Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting back the youngster's talent

The coach further revealed that Priyansh told him that the PBKS captain, Shreyas Iyer, and head coach, Ricky Ponting, are fully supporting him and told him that he doesn’t need much coaching. He noted, “Priyansh has told me that Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting are backing him fully. They have asked him to back his instincts. They have also told him that he needs no coaching."

Arya’s coach also shared that the young batter worked hard to improve his cut and pull shots since he was being looked at as an opener. The coach signed off by saying, “He was working on cut and pull shots. He was being considered as an opener, so he had to work on these shots. He had to face bowlers who bowl 140-150 km/h, so the work needed to be done. Big-hitting comes naturally to him.”

Notably, PBKS, who jumped to the fourth spot in the points table, will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next IPL 2025 game on April 12 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
