In a shocking news, South African talismanic batsman AB de Villiers has hung up his boots from all the forms of International Cricket. The former Proteas skipper took to his own app to announce his retirement.

This news is a bolt from the blue as the World Cup is scheduled to be held next year. de Villiers had recently return back to Test cricket after taking a one-year sabbatical.

He had performed really well in the crucial Test series against India and Australia.

This came out of the blue.

“It’s been a tough decision to make and I’ve thought long and hard about it but I believe it is my time to step down,” he wrote.

AB de Villiers also took to his Twitter account to share the shocking news. He said in the video uploaded, “Hi this is the High Center Club in Pretoria where I was first called into the Proteas Club. Today at the same place, I want to let you know that I have decided to retire from all International Cricket with immediate effect.

de Villiers recently played in the Indian Premier League for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. AB once again looked at the top of his game as he scored 480 runs in the 11 matches.

AB de Villiers did unbelievable things on the cricket field. He played the most daring shots and he was a complete masterclass. Furthermore, he was also a live wire on the field.

There is no doubt that it is a big blow for the Cricket South Africa.

de Villiers has claimed that he is tired. The talisman also added that it was a tough decision to take.

AB de Villiers 114 Test matches, 228 One-Dayers and 78 T20I for the South African team. de Villiers scored 8765 runs in the red ball form, 9577 runs in the 50-over format and 1672 runs in the shortest form.
