India’s wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was on fire in the opening session of the final day. Pant decided to get under the skin of Australia’s fast bowler Pat Cummins. In fact, Cummins had sledged Rishabh Pant in the first innings when the latter had come to bat. Subsequently, it was Pant’s chance to give his piece of mind to the Australian pacer.

Rishabh Pant kept tempting Pat Cummins to go for a big shot while facing against Ravichandran Ashwin. Pant kept saying in the stump mic, “Come on Paty, show us some sixes. It’s not easy to bat here, someone is not seeing. Big hit coming from Patty”.

The Indian gloveman kept encouraging Ravichandran Ashwin as repeated Come on Ash on multiple occasions. In fact, Pant kept on chirping to get under the skin of Pat Cummins.

However, Cummins showed the guile as he was not tempted by Pant’s loud words. Cummins trusted his defence and was successful in keeping Ashwin at bay. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant and Pat Cummins share dressing rooms for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. Consequently, they know each other.

Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar thinks it was not a smart thing to be done by Rishabh Pant. Gavaskar also noted that Pant was addressing Ashwin as ‘Ashwin Bhaiya’ during the England tour. However, it was only Ash in the ongoing first Test match against Australia.

On the other hand, Pant was sledged by Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins in the first innings. Thus, Pant decided to take his vengeance against the Australian seamer.
