With all 13 seasons of IPL gaining plenty of popularity and the current edition being even more successful, the BCCI hopes for the Women’s T20 challenge to have the same impact. Sharjah will serve as the host for the upcoming Women’s T20 challenge, set to commence from the 4th of November. On that note, the BCCI has booked Jio as its title sponsors.

The partnership will also have the support of Reliance Foundation Education and Sports For All. It is a historical partnership as it is the first time that the BCCI has signed a deal exclusively for Women’s fixtures. The tournament, which starts from the 4th of November will continue the 9th between three teams – Trailblazers, Supernovas, and Velocity. Mithali Raj will captain the Velocity while Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Trailblazers and Supernovas respectively.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly underlined that one of their primary focuses remains is to grow the women’s game as much as possible. The former Indian captain hopes for Jio to inspire more and more women in the country to opt for cricket as profession, inserting confidence amongst their parents that being a sportsperson is a good career choice.

As BCCI grows the game of cricket across all formats, one key area of focus has been to grow the women’s game. We hope the Jio Women’s T20 Challenge will inspire more young girls to take up the sport and give parents the confidence that playing cricket is a great career opportunity for their daughters,” Ganguly said in an official press release.
