Cricket has seen several batsmen evolve in various eras of the game and take the game forward. Sachin Tendulkar was at the peak of his batting powers in the late nineties. In the 2000s, it was the likes of Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis, Kumar Sangakkara amongst others who evolved through the ranks and went on to become the best batsmen in their respective generations.

Then came the age of Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, David Warner, Joe Root and Kane Williamson in the second decade of 2000 who have continues to carry forward the legacy. All these batsmen are counted among the modern greats despite the few blips in their international careers.

Tendulkar ended his career with hundred international hundreds. He is followed by Ricky Ponting with 71 international tons and then comes Virat Kohli at number three with 70 international centuries to date. Most 50-plus Scores By Batsmen In International Cricket

Sachin Tendulkar- 264

Sachin Tendulkar leads the list with 264 fifty-plus scores in international cricket. He ended his career with hundred international hundreds and 164 international fifty-plus scores taking his tally to 264. Overall, in 664 international games, Tendulkar scored 33, 272 international runs.

Ponting is one of Australia’s most successful international chaos with three ICC 50-over World Cup titles as captain. Ponting has several other batting records to his credit. He is second in this elite list with 217 fifty-plus scores in international cricket. He ended his career with 71 international hundreds and 68, 82 and two-fifty scores in T20I cricket taking his tally to 217.

Kumar Sangakkara- 216

The former Sri Lanka skipper was one of the most elegant left-handers of his era. He is the highest scorer for the side in Test and ODI cricket. He is also amongst the Lankan players with the most ODI appearances for the country. He has 216 international fifty-plus scores. To break it down, he scored 63 hundreds, 153 fifty-plus scores taking his tally to 216 international fifty-plus scores.

Jacques Kallis-211

Former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis ranks fourth in this list with 211 fifty-plus scores. Before the arrival of AB De Villiers and Hashim Amla, it was Kallis who was pretty much Kallis who was the face of the South African batting. He is also amongst the top-allrounders to have played in his generation. He scored 62 hundreds in international cricket and 149 fifty-plus scores in international cricket taking his tally to 211.

Rahul Dravid-194

The former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid ranks fifth in this list of batsmen with the most fifty-plus scores in international cricket. He scored 48 international hundreds and 146 international fifties taking his tally to 194 fifty-plus scores in international cricket. He played only 1 T20I in his international career.

Virat Kohli-191

Virat Kohli concludes this elite list of players. He has currently scored 191 fifty-plus scores in international cricket. That includes 70 international centuries and 121 fifties in international cricket. He scores his last century in 2019 and the Indian cricket fans are eagerly waiting for his 71st.
