Ian Bell, the former England middle-order batsman, may not have played international cricket since 2015 but he prospect of drawing curtains on his career has still not dawned upon him.

The stylish English batsman has said that he isn’t really thinking about calling it quits but admitted to not looking too far ahead.

Ian Bell had recently confirmed that he will be turning up for his county Warwickshire till the end of the next summer but he insists that he can play for a longer period of time before eventually calling it quits.

“[I’ve] not really thought about it, to be honest with you. I think the key for me at the moment is just to take it small, year by year,” Ian Bell said as quoted by Cricket365.

Ian Bell missed out on most of the season last year due to injury but in the season prior to it, the former England International was instrumental in leading Warwickshire to the 1st division of the county championship.

“The conversations with [Warwickshire sport director] Paul Farbrace are quite simple. He wants to win. For me, if I feel like I’m playing the best cricket I can play, then I’ll want to keep going year by year. But yeah, I’m not looking too far ahead or making those assumptions or decisions just yet.” Ian Bell said.

With the UK government giving their approval for the resumption of recreational cricket in the country, Ian Bell is excited to see the game return at all levels. He also reckoned that it is important to build on the momentum generated thanks to the blockbuster 2019 English summer.

“It’s great, we want to get some cricket going. Obviously I feel for club cricket as well; hopefully, they’re not far away as well, because we need from top to bottom everyone playing cricket,” Ian Bell said

“We don’t want to lose a whole summer of not playing cricket and certainly off the momentum of last season, winning a World Cup and watching what Ben Stokes did in particular in the Ashes. You want to carry that momentum on and I think it’s so important that we do get back playing.” Ian Bell reckoned.
