Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) spin sensation Kuldeep Yadav said that he was fully prepared for IPL 2020, and it would have been a successful season for him had the IPL been up and running. He also asserted that he could not perform to the best of his abilities last season as he had played a lot of games before participating in the tournament.

IPL 2020 was slated to start from March 29 this year. But, due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic in India, in particular, the tournament has been suspended indefinitely. Now, with the delay advancing, franchises are in huge bother that the tournament might get cancelled permanently. It has led to a possibility to go ahead with the tournament behind closed doors.

Kuldeep Yadav has said that if IPL 2020 had taken place on time, he would have done exceptionally well for his franchise as he had prepared a lot for the competition.

Kuldeep Yadav Was Hopeful Of A Great IPL 2020 Campaign

“I was fully prepared for this IPL 2020 and I had planned a lot. I was 100 per cent sure that this IPL would be a success,” Kuldeep Yadav was quoted as saying in Kolkata Knight Riders website. Asked about last season, Kuldeep spoke about why he struggled to get going.

“When I came into IPL, I didn’t give myself enough time to train. The biggest learning from 2019 was that I did not plan for the season. There was a lot of cricket in 2019, especially international cricket. I joined the team just three days before the IPL started. So the planning wasn’t good. The involvement wasn’t good either. And that is very important,” he said.

“I don’t think the last IPL was all that bad for me. I bowled very well. But a leg-spinner’s success is based on the number of wickets he picks. I didn’t manage to pick many wickets, but my economy was good. When you don’t pick wickets your confidence drops a bit. Then there was a game where I went for a lot of runs. So my confidence level dropped,” Kuldeep admitted.

With the coronavirus pandemic bringing the world to a standstill, the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was postponed from March 29 to April 15. India is currently on a world’s biggest lockdown to combat the deadly virus. The lockdown was extended on April 14 by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

Dark Clouds Looms Large Over IPL 2020 Future

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is now looking at the October-November window for the IPL. But the move can be possible only if the ICC decides to postpone the 2020 T20 World Cup that is to be held in October, this year, according to some sources in the board.

On April 10, latest reports suggested that the BCCI is probing into the July window to conduct the IPL and it could take place behind closed doors.
