Chennai Super Kings have purchased the services of veteran leg-spinner Piyush Chawla for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. The crafty leg-spinner who had set his base price at INR 1 crore saw three-time IPL champions buy him for a massive amount of INR 6.75 crore after beating four-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians in the bidding war.

Since the birth of Indian Premier League, Chawla has performed whenever it mattered the most. He hogged the limelight when he plied his trade for the Kings XI Punjab team from 2008 to 2013. He was at the cynosure of everyone’s eyes and much to expectations, the young spinner performed quite well. He had claimed 57 wickets in 55 matches.
