Tamil Nadu off-spinner Varun Chakravarthy turned out be an overnight sensation with his brilliant bowling against Delhi Capitals on Saturday. Chakravarthy not only helped his side clinch victory against the serious contenders for IPL 2020 with his five-wicket haul but also overshadowed the likes of Pat Cummins and Sunil Narine with his performance.
Chakravarthy has made his place in the KKR line-up ahead of experienced India spinner Kuldeep Yadav. It only adds to his story as he once left cricket but returned back to it to fill in the void. His brilliant bowling performance against Delhi Capitals also garnered him praises from the close quarters including the likes of Harbhajan Singh.

To take the wicket of MS Dhoni was surreal: Varun Chakravarthy
Chakravarthy has now set his sights on clinching the IPL 2020 with KKR. He also recalled picking up the prized wicket of former India captain MS Dhoni in one of the earlier matches this season and said that it was surreal experience which he will cherish throughout the lifetime.
“The next challenge is to get into the playoffs and lift the cup for KKR,” Chakravarthy told Dinesh Karthik in a video posted by iplt20.com.
“It felt very surreal. I was a net bowler and before that, I used to go to Chepauk stadium to see the matches. To take the wicket of Dhoni was surreal and I will definitely cherish that moment in my life,” he said.
The race for the IPL 2020 playoffs fourth place is getting stiffer. KKR are at the fourth spot with 10 points from as many matches with SunRisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab following them and set to challenge their position.
