But once Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah brought his spinners into attack, the Scots were put on a back foot as they slipped down to 55/6 at the end of the 12th over.

Chris Greaves, who came in to bat at No.7, blazed 45 runs from 28 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes.

Greaves was supported by Mark Watt, who scored 22 from 17, as Scotland posted a competitive score of 140/9.

Coetzer appreciated the Bangladesh bowlers for quitely holding them in the middle overs and also noted his team’s strength from how they overcame from a challenging situation.

“Credit to the Bangladesh bowlers, they showed high class skills. They did blow us away a bit. But you can’t count any team out in T20s. We had a lot of belief in our batting depth, we do feel we can all hit the ball a long way. Greaves and Watt showed it,” Coetzer said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

“It just shows that we can win a game from any position. We fought back with some great knocks and this is a great confidence builder, he added.

It was tricky, there was plenty of dew: Kyle Coetzer

Scotland bowlers meant business as they ensured Bangladesh didn’t surpass their total to bag those two crucial points.

Bradley Wheal (3/24) and Greaves (2/19) were the best performers with the ball for Scotland.

Coetzer admitted that his team did not play with full strength and also pointed how the dew factor changed the game.

“We understand that we have to play extremely well to beat sides. We certainly didn’t play to our full potential tonight against a good Bangladesh side. We’ll do what we do after winning games, and maybe de-brief at some point tomorrow,” Coetzer said.

“It was tricky, there was plenty of dew. I felt our fielders tackled it well apart from myself, all credit to them,” he added.

Scotland will play their next match against Papua New Guinea on Tuesday in Al Amerat.
