Team India skipper Virat Kohli praised the Pakistan side and stated that they are filled with talented players who can change the complexion of the game at any moment.
He also reckoned India needs to be on its toes when they go up against their arch-rivals tomorrow in a high-voltage clash. This will be the sixth time the two nations are meeting in a T20 World Cup, and the Men in Blue have managed to win every match till now.
“Pakistan, according to me is a very strong team and always has been a strong side. You have to play your best cricket against them because they have lots of talent and players who can change the game,” Kohli told reporters ahead of the showpiece match.
“What matters is how we prepare and execute’ – Virat Kohli
The 32-year-old Virat Kohli was adamant about ignoring the past performances since they don’t hold any importance in a format like the T20. Anything can happen on a particular day and any team can cause an upset. So the main aim of a team is to stay focused and avoid complacency, as elaborated by Kohli.
“We never discussed these things, about our record and past performance (where India leads 5-0). These things create distractions. What matters is how we prepare and execute on that particular day, regardless of the opposition,” Kohli added.
The warmup matches were quite great for India as they sorted out their batting order where everybody received sufficient amounts of practice. The bowling attack also looks in good shape barring the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
