"Can Form A Pair Like Yuvraj And Dhoni": Sunil Gavaskar Makes Bold Statement On Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya

Legendary India National Cricket Team batter Sunil Gavaskar was highly impressed with the performances of the 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and the 28-year-old all-rounder Hardik Pandya in the third and final ODI against the England National Cricket Team.

Pant and Pandya added crucial 133 runs for the 5th wicket in the ODI series decider after India lost early wickets of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav. Their sensational partnership helped India win the match against England by 5 wickets and the series by 2-1.

Pant smashed an unbeaten 125 off just 113 deliveries, including 16 fours and 2 sixes, and Hardik smashed 71 runs off 55 balls, including 10 fours.

Speaking to Sports Tak, batting legend Gavaskar said that Hardik and Pant can become a pair like Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni. He said:

“Yes, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant can definitely form a pair like Yuvraj and Dhoni were. Both had the ability to hit huge sixes and also ran well between wickets.”

Gavaskar further said that Hardik has made his comeback to the national set-up at the right time because India needed a premier all-rounder like him who is capable enough to make significant contributions with both bat and ball. He asserted:

“Hardik has made his comeback at the right time because India desperately needed an all-rounder. Now they have both Pandya and Jadeja who can bat as well as bowl ten overs. You look at teams who won world championships in 1983, 1985, 2011 and 2013, all had good all-rounders.”
