ENG vs IND: 3 Indian Players Who Didn’t Deserve A Spot In India Squad vs England. The BCCI announced India’s Test squad for the one-off Test match against England to be played in Birmingham from July 1. Chetwahwar Pujara has returned to the squad and Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer have been included in place of Mayank Agarwal and the injured Ajinkya Rahane.

Among the bowlers, the management has decided to go with a 6-man pace attack with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja being the two specialist spinners. Jadeja is currently nursing an injury after being ruled out of IPL 2022.

For a one-off test match, the BCCI has named a 17-member squad which is a bit too much for one’s liking. In this article, we take a look at 3 Indian players who didn’t deserve a spot in India’s Test squad.

With the side with premier bowlers, it will be interesting to see if Shardul Thakur gets his opportunity in the playing XI. He did not have the best of IPL season with the bat or ball. He took seven wickets in the Test series and scored 117 runs in two matches before the series was postponed.

The Indian pacer has had a good IPL season this year thus far taking 15 wickets as the Rajasthan Royals qualified for the IPL 2022 playoffs. However, with India already having an experienced pace attack, Krishna might not get a game in the Test match.

Iyer replaced the injured Ajinkya Rahane in the Test squad that was announced for the Test series. Assuming that KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma will open the batting, the rest of the order is almost sorted with Pujara batting at three, Virat Kohli 4. The squad already has options between Hanuma Vihari and Shubman Gill for the number five spot.

Both are versatile players and can bat at any number as well. Hence considering all proportions, Iyer might not get a game as well. He made his Test debut earlier this year against New Zealand earlier this year and scored a century on debut.
