IND vs SA: It Is Important To Play Two Spinners In Cape Town – Harbhajan Singh

Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that playing two spinners in the team at the Newlands, Cape Town is very important.

India won the first Test of the series at SuperSport Park, Centurion, South Africa won the second Test at the Wanderers, Johannesburg and the third Test will be a series decider which will be played from January 11-15, at the Newlands, Cape Town.

Speaking on his YouTube channel former Indian off-spinner said that the surface in Cape Town provides support to the spinners, he cited his personal record of 7/120 in 2011 in Cape Town.

Also, he suggested team India to field two spinners and said head coach Rahul Dravid and team management should take a call on who be assisting Ravichandran Ashwin.

“It is important to play two spinners in Cape Town. This pitch definitely helps the spinners,” Harbhajan said on his YouTube channel.

“Whenever I have played there, I have got help. My best figures (overseas) have come there when I had taken seven wickets. There are a lot of other spinners who have done well there so I feel India should go in with two spinners. Rahul Dravid and the entire team management has to take a call on who will assist Ravichandran Ashwin from the other end,” Harbhajan said.

Harbhajan Singh Feels India Can Dominate If They Play 2 Spinners

Harbhajan who recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket further added that if India score 350-400 runs and field two spinners they can dominate the match.

“Once we put up 350-400 runs, and if we have two spinners playing there, which I am assuming because they should, then India can dominate completely. KL Rahul is in good form, Mayank is starting well but isn’t able to convert. I hope India will play this like the perfect match,” he added.

Meanwhile, India doesn’t have Ravindra Jadeja or Axar Patel to assist Ravichandran Ashwin, and the only other spinner in the team is off-spinner Jayant Yadav.
