India and South Africa face off in a three-match ODI series after the end of the third Test in Cape Town. The first two games of the IND vs ODI series (January 19, 21) will be played in Paarl while Cape Town will host the third ODI on January 23. This is also the first ODI series for both teams in the new calendar year of 2022. Both teams have announced their squads for the series with KL Rahul leading India while Temba Bavuma leading the Protean side.

The Indian bowling attack has the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Siraj and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. There is no lack of experience so to speak and the three-match series presents these bowlers to showcase their talent and skill.

In this article, we will take a look at the three best Indian bowlers in the squad for the IND vs SA ODI series.

Bumrah will continue to spearhead the Indian bowling attack in the ODIs too after the Test series. Making his international debut in 2016, he has gone on to become India’s most potent weapon with the ball across formats.

It has been over a year that Bumrah played his last ODI for India in Australia. In the meantime, he has been a regular member of the Test squad and also played the T20 World Cup. Managing Bumrah’s workload will be one of the concerns of the management in the ODI series. He is also the vice-captain in this ODI series.

Ashwin was recalled into the ODI squad for the first time since 2017. His recent performances in the T20 World Cup made the management think about bringing him back for the ODIs. He is very much a replacement for Ravindra Jadeja who is not a part of this series due to an injury. How he bowls in adverse conditions will be an interesting observation.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Like Ashwin, Bhuvi is also making a comeback to the ODI squad after a long time. He was a part of the ODI squad that played in Sri Lanka last year. He performed both with bat and ball to make an impact in the series. The veteran Indian pacer has been troubled with a hamstring injury in the recent past which has hampered his performances as well.

Thus it will be important for him to perform in this series. He is nine wickets shy of getting to 150 ODI wickets which he might well achieve in the series.
