South Africa and India are set to clash with each other in the 3rd Test of the ongoing Test series. IND vs SA 3rd Test is set to start on January 11 at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town. So far, the three-match Test series is tied 1-1 with both the teams winning one game each.

India won the opening Test by 113 runs in Centurion. South Africa made a comeback in the 2nd Test, winning the match by 7 wickets. Virat Kohli, after missing the IND vs SA 2nd Test due to a back issue, will be back to lead the team in the 3rd Test. For South Africa, Dean Elgar will be the skipper in the next game as well. Dean Elgar will lead the team in the next game as well and will also open the innings. After smashing unbeaten 96 in the last Test, Elgar will be on the top of his confidence. He also slammed a 77-run knock in IND vs SA 1st Test, which proves the left-handed is in a good batting form currently. In 4 innings, he has scored 202 runs so far, the most for his team.

Aiden Markram might be another opener for South Africa in the next game. Markram has largely failed to come up with a big knock in IND vs SA series so far. In 4 innings, he accounts for 52 runs at an average of 13.0. However, the team might not risk messing up with the opening pair in the 3rd Test and give Markram another opportunity.

Keegan Petersen

Keegan Petersen will play at the no.1 position. The right-handed batsman did an amazing job in South Africa’s victory in the 2nd Test. He scored 62 and 28 in two innings, helping South Africa to outplay India in batting in both innings. He will look to bat with a similar approach in the next game as well.

After failing to perform in the first three innings across the two Tests, Rassie van der Dussen came up with a good knock of 40 runs in IND vs SA 2nd Test. The right-handed batsman has scored 55 runs in 4 innings so far at an average of 13.75.

Temba Bavuma is one player who is confirmed to be part of the team in IND vs SA 3rd Test. The Proteas ODI skipper has played brilliantly in both the Tests so far. With an outstanding average of 80.50, the right-handed batsman has scored 161 runs in 4 innings so far. This includes 2 half-centuries and 2 unbeaten knocks.

With the ouster of Quinton de Kock from the Test squad due to his retirement post IND vs SA 2nd Test, South Africa does not have many options of experienced wicket-keeper. They picked Kyle Verreynne in the previous Test, who scored 21 runs in the one innings he batted. The team is expected to retain Verreynne as the keeper in the next game as well.

With the ball, he is yet to pick a wicket in the series as the seam-friendly stadiums have not offered him many opportunities. He will look to come up with a better show in the next encounter.
