Former India captain Virat Kohli was dismissed for a 5-ball duck in the second ODI of the three-match ODI series between India and South Africa at Boland Park, Paarl, on Friday, January 21.

Former India captain Virat Kohli came out to bat in the 12th over of the match and he walked back to the dugout in the 13th over itself.

South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj pitched up the 4th ball of the 13th over outside off and Virat Kohli jumped on the length and went for the drive, he wanted to send the ball over Temba Bavuma but he was unable to make a good connection with the ball and he handed the simple to Temba Bavuma at the cover.

Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bat first. The KL Rahul-led side made no changes in the XI and fielded the same team. However, South Africa dropped Marco Jansen to manage his workload and included Sisanda Magala in the playing XI.

No changes were made in India’s opening pair and KL Rahul opened the innings with Shikhar Dhawan. In the first over of the match Lungi Ngidi gave only one run but in the second over Sisanda Magala gave away 15. The next few overs were also decent from India’s perspective and the duo completed the half-century partnership in the 9th over, at the end of the powerplay, India were at 57/0.

Aiden Markram provided South Africa with the first breakthrough in the 12th over by dismissing Shikhar Dhawan, who managed to score 29 runs. Also, Virat Kohli was dismissed at the score of 0 and at the time of writing India are at 72/2 with captain KL Rahul and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant in the middle.
