Ravindra Jadeja led out Chennai Super Kings in his first game as captain against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022. He took over MS Dhoni as the captain of the side as the Yellow Army has the tough task of defending their title this year.
Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has sent his best wishes to the southpaw as he embarks on a new journey with CSK as their skipper. Shastri who is a part of the Star Sports broadcast team is confident of Jadeja filling up the big shoes of MS Dhoni. Earlier, the former Indian head coach spoke to the official CSK website and congratulated the Indian cricketer on his new role with Chennai Super Kings.
“Jaddu, my friend, good luck. I am sure you are more than capable of handling the job as captain. Get out there and enjoy yourself like you normally do and be a good captain. Good luck with the toss, start winning many” Shastri said.
Ravi Shastri also spoke about Ravindra Jadeja’s recent success in international cricket across formats. Very recently he slammed a career-best of 175 in the Mohali Test against Sri Lanka which was also Virat Kohli‘s 100th Test.
Ravindra Jadeja Has Been An Oustanding Cricketer For India: Ravi Shastri
“He has been an outstanding cricketer for India. No. 1 in the world rankings when it comes to being an all-rounder. I have seen him evolve over the last 5 years and, in particular, the last 3 years. The way he is focussed on his batting. The time he has spent at the nets, the self-belief he has brought into the game. Apart from being an outstanding fielder and doing the job with the ball, I think he is a livewire in the team” added Shastri on Jadeja.
Shastri also kept a word on the CSK vs KKR IPL 2022 season opener. So far in 19 games between both sides, CSK has won 12 games while KKR just seven. CSK beat KKR in the IPL 2021 final to win the title for the fourth time.
“CSK have far more experience. They are far more battle-hardened. They have gone through the terrain and hard situations many, many times in the past, albeit this time they will have a new captain. It will be interesting to see how that goes. MS will still be there behind the stumps. So that’s a massive help” Shastri concluded saying.
