Mumbai Indians had a miserable show in IPL 2021, where they failed to qualify for playoffs. Ahead of IPL 2022, the franchise retained 4 players in their squad. Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, and Jasprit Bumrah are the 4 players that the franchise has retained for IPL 2022.

Mumbai Indians have spent Rs. 42 crore to retain these players and they have Rs. 48 crore available for the IPL 2022 auction. Due to the retentions rule, Mumbai Indians had to part ways with many powerful players in their squad. Hence during the auction, the franchise will seek to pick some top players. Rohit Sharma is the first player that Mumbai Indians have retained for IPL 2022. The franchise has offered him a deal of Rs. 16 crore for the next season. With 5 IPL titles under his belt, Rohit Sharma is the most successful skipper in the Indian Premier League. In IPL 2021, he scored 381 runs in 13 games and finished as the top run-getter for the team.

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is the second player that Mumbai Indians have retained for IPL 2022. Bumrah is the most crucial pacer for the team. He has been part of the team since his debut edition in 2013. In the last season, he scalped 21 wickets in 14 games at an average of 19.52 and finished as the top run-scorer.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav is another player that Mumbai Indians have retained for the next season. The right-handed batsman has been offered Rs. 8 crores to stay in the team. Yadav mustered 317 runs in 14 games in IPL 2021 with 2 half-centuries.

Kieron Pollard

Kieron Pollard is the 4th player that the franchise has retained for next season, giving him a deal of Rs. 6 crore. Kieron Pollard has been part of the franchise since his debut edition in 2010 and is the vice-captain of the team. In IPL 2021, he scored 245 runs in 14 games and picked 5 wickets.

Jonny Bairstow

For the wicketkeeper’s role, Mumbai Indians might go for Jonny Bairstow. Bairstow was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2021 but has been released by the team. Playing only the 1st leg of IPL 2021, the wicketkeeper-batsman scored 248 runs in 7 games at an average of 41.33. It will be hard for the franchise to get Ishan Kishan back as he will probably be picked up by either of the two new teams ahead of the auction.

Glenn Phillips might be another wicketkeeper that the franchise might pick during IPL 2022 auction. Philipps was part of Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021 which was his debut season. He played 3 games, scoring 26 runs.

Aiden Markram can be a middle-order batsman that Mumbai Indians can target in IPL 2022 auction. Markram was part of Punjab Kings in IPL 2021. He scored 146 runs in 6 games at an average of 29.20 with the highest knock of 42 runs in one game.

Shivam Dube can be another middle-order batsman that the team can pick for the next season. Dube, who also comes handy as a bowler, was part of Rajasthan Royals in the last season. He scored 230 runs in 9 games at an average of 28.75. He also slammed a half-century.

Hardik Pandya

Mumbai Indians might opt to buy Hardik Pandya in their squad during the IPL 2022 auction. The franchise had to drop him with a restriction of only 4 players for retentions. However, Pandya has been a core member of the team over the years and Mumbai Indians will wish to bring him back to the squad.

Rahul Chahar might be another player that Mumbai Indians will look to bring back in the squad. The right-arm spinner picked 13 wickets in 11 games IPL 2021 at an average of 24.26 and economy of 7.39. He also bowled match-winning spells in a couple of games.
