IPL 2022 Auction: Rating The 5 Best Retained Fast Bowlers

IPL 2022 will witness a mega auction ahead of the tournament, which is scheduled to take place in February this year. As 2 new teams Lucknow and Ahmedabad will be part of IPL 2022, a mega auction will take place to set up the squads of these teams. Ahead of the auction, the old 8 teams retained a total of 27 players in their squads, as they were allowed to retain a maximum of 4 players.

Out of these 27 players, there are a few fast bowlers who were also retained by their respective franchises. There are also some pacers who gave impressive performance last season but could not get an entry in retention lists. In this article, we take a glance at 5 best fast bowlers who are retained by teams for IPL 2022 and rate them according to their strengths.

5. Umran Malik- 6.0

Umran Malik is part of Sunrisers Hyderabad. The right-arm pacer surprised as well as impressed everyone after he proved that he could touch a speed of 150 kmph while bowling. Hence, considering Malik a valuable investment for the future, the SRH retained him for IPL 2022 season for Rs. 4 crore. Last season, he played 3 matches and picked 2 wickets. He gets a rating of 5.0.

4. Arshdeep Singh- 6.5

Arshdeep Singh was another surprise package among fast bowlers in IPL 2021. He was part of Punjab Kings and the franchise retained the right-arm pacer for Rs. 4 crore for IPL 2022. The 22-year-old scalped 18 wickets in 12 games for the team last season, bowling at an average of 19.0 and economy of 8.27. He also hunted down a brilliant five-wicket haul in one match. He gets a rating of 6.5.

3. Mohammed Siraj-7.0

Mohammed Siraj was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021 and he did a brilliant job in the bowling department. The right-arm pacer has been retained for a whopping amount of Rs. 7 crore for IPL 2022.

Last season, the 27-year-old scalped 11 wickets in 15 games at an average of 32.09. His economy rate of just 6.78 was totally impressive. Siraj managed to execute fabulous bowling during death overs in many games. He gets a rating of 7.0 in this list.

2. Anrich Nortje-8.0

Anrich Nortje was part of Delhi Capitals and with his astonishing show, he managed to enter team’s retention list for 2022 season. The South African pacer has been retained for Rs. 6.50 crore by Delhi Capitals.

He played comparatively fewer matches than other bowlers in IPL 2021. In 8 matches, the right-arm pacer scalped 12 wickets at an average of 15.58. His X factor was his economy rate, as he bowled at a rate of just 6.16. He gets a rating of 8.0 out of 10 in this list.

1. Jasprit Bumrah- 9.0

Jasprit Bumrah takes the top spot in this list. Bumrah was definitely among the best fast bowlers in IPL 2021, in spite of his team Mumbai Indians’ poor show. The right-arm pacer scalped 21 wickets in 14 games at an average of 19.52, finishing as the team’s highest wicket-taker. Bumrah has been retained for Rs. 12 crore by Mumbai Indians for next season. The 28-year-old gets a rating of 9.0.
