IPL 2022: Delivering Under Pressure, He Is T20 Ka Khalifa – Mohammad Kaif Feels Shikhar Dhawan Should Play T20 World Cup For India

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has lavished praise on veteran left-handed batsman Shikhar Dhawan and said that he should be part of India’s squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which will be played in Australia.

Punjab Kings opener Shikhar Dhawan is currently the third-highest run-getter in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 with 302 runs under his belt at an average of 43.14 and a strike rate of 132.45.

He played a key role in Punjab Kings’ win over Chennai Super Kings in the 38th match of the Indian Premier League 2022 as he remained unbeaten at 88 runs off 59 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Also, during the match against Chennai Super Kings, Shikhar Dhawan became only second cricketer after Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli to score 6000 runs in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL).

Mohammad Kaif Labels Shikhar Dhawan as “T20 Ka Khalifa ”

Former Indian cricketer took to Twitter to shower praise on the Punjab Kings opener Dhawan and Kaif labelled him as “T20 ka Khalifa” while comparing him with the iconic Burj Khalifa.

“Dhoni Thala hai, Kohli King hain aur Shikhar? 6000 IPL runs, delivering under pressure, he is T20 ka Khalifa. He should play T20 World Cup. Don’t ask me where, if I was selector, I would tell you,” Kaif tweeted.

Meanwhile, Dhawan, other than achieving the 6000 runs milestone in the Indian Premier League, achieved two other major milestones as he became only the third Indian batter to reach 9,000 runs in T20 cricket after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Also, Dhawan became the 8th cricketer to play 200 matches in the history of IPL after MS Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Suresh Raina, and Robin Uthappa.
