IPL 2022: MS Dhoni Is The Best Captain In IPL; To Replace Him As CSK Captain Is Going To Be Tough – Harbhajan Singh

Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh feels that the legendary India and Chennai Super Kings skipper, MS Dhoni, is still the best captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and replacing him as CSK captain will be a very tough job.

The 40-year-old Dhoni had decided to hand over the Chennai Super Kings captaincy to senior spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja just a few days before the IPL 2022 began.

However, Jadeja’s stint as Chennai Super Kings captain saw him struggling to deliver good performance with the bat and ball, and the team also struggled in the tournament.

After 8 games Jadeja decided to hand back the captaincy to Dhoni and so far the CSK have won one and lost one game under his captaincy in the 15th edition of the tournament.

Meanwhile, former Chennai Super Kings off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has said that expecting a player to replicate Dhoni’s performance as a captain is not an ideal thing. He said:

“When you have a captain like MS Dhoni, it is difficult to get someone and expect that person to replicate what Dhoni has been doing. To replace him as a captain (in CSK) is going to be a tough decision. It is a big shoes to fill. I still feel he is the best captain in IPL.”

Former India off-spinner further added that Chennai Super Kings going back to Dhoni after Jadeja’s failure as a skipper was a great thing. He asserted:

“They tried with Ravindra Jadeja but failed and they have gone back to MS which is a great thing. It is going to be interesting to see how CSK performs beyond Dhoni.”

Harbhajan also hailed Dhoni and said that he has won many IPL trophies, the T20 World cup, the World Cup, and the Champions Trophy.

He said: “When we talk about Dhoni’s captaincy he has won the T20 World cup, the World Cup and even Champions Trophy and has been so successful in IPL.

“A lot of credit goes to him who has been running the show for so many years. He will always be in the dugout with CSK but being there and being on field are two different things.”
