Mumbai Indians have been dealt with a huge blow as their season draws to a close. Pacer Tymal Mills has been ruled out of the season with an ankle injury. The five-time IPL champions have been already ruled out of the tournament having lost their first eight games on the trot. They play their next game against Gujarat Titans on April 6.
Tymal Mills played five matches for IPL 2022 and took six wickets. He was not a consistent member of the playing XI having played a few initial games and not doing too much in those games. The franchise has named Tristan Stubbs as a replacement for left-arm pacer. Stubbs is a 21-year-old South African wicketkeeper-batsman. He has played 17 T20s in his career so far having scored just over 500 runs at a strike rate of 157.14.

Mumbai Indians as a team have been disappointing in this tournament. The entire batting line-up barring Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma has been disappointing. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan have failed to give Mumbai starts at the top which in turn has affected the middle-order.
With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah has been below par this season. He has picked up just five wickets in nine matches. The absence of a reputed spinner in the playing Xi has hampered the team’s chances as well.
Rohit was a relieved man after Mumbai won against Rajasthan Royals registering their first win of the season. Rohit still found it tough to score in the game as he was dismissed for just two of five balls.
“I’d definitely take it (win), that’s how we play, real potential came out today, with the ball specially. They kept applying the pressure. If you keep taking wickets, it’s going to be difficult for them, we did that perfectly today. This is the team we played in the first couple of games except few bowling changes. When you have a season like that, you are not sure of your combination. You want to try out so many things. We played very well, bowlers came together, batters did the job as well” said Rohit.
